Homes That Feel Like Summer
I grew up in Oregon. I’d say a Louisiana summer is akin to an Oregon winter - most of the time you’d rather stay inside. But although the heat is relentless and the air is thicker than a bowl of oatmeal, there is something to love about the bullfrogs and cicadas nightly song, the way the air warms you after you’ve been in the a/c for too long, stuffed snowballs and late night fishing, the smell of chlorine in your hair from the neighborhood pool - summer in the south has it’s own charm.
Southern homes tend to have an all around summer feel and charm to them too. So, in the spirit of the season, I thought I would share a few homes that feel like sunshine.
Last years Southern Living idea house by Sarah Bartholomew is a stunner. The bright and airy rooms are the essence of summer. The details are impeccable. Check the whole things out out here.
Second, is a Southern Living feature of 2019, Julia Berolzheimer’s home in Charleston, South Carolina. The blue kitchen is so fun…and the painted floors -love, but it’s the sprawling front porch for me. Click and enjoy.
One more - an old favorite feature from Garden and Gun, designer Erika Powell’s Florida home. The green slatted outdoor shower with the blue striped curtain would be pretty perfect after a swim. Erika’s home is layered and collected, but not too heavy. Cozy and summery all at the same time.
Here’s to another summer. Hope yours is the perfect balance of cool and warm.
